Meet Lass

Kentucky Mountain Horse Mare

All About Me

Hello! I am Lass, a Kentucky Rockey Mountain horse mare born in 2000. I am a rare color called red chocolate. I joined the TTRC team in 2017 and have been loving my job working with students in the arena and on a trail. I will always prefer the trail, but I do enjoy helping my riders enjoy their lessons as they learn and grow practicing in the arena. I make sure they cue me right or I won’t follow their instructions. They have to practice and be clear with their cues.

My passion is working with students that need to get stronger in their core and balance. Before coming to TTRC I was with my beautiful family as a trail horse. Unfortunately, my family struggled with many life challenges including fighting cancer and didn’t have the time to take me out anymore. Without enough exercise I started getting laminitis and found out I am insulin resistance. That is similar to diabetes in horses.

I love trail rides, a good long grooming and peppermint treats!! Thankfully my family knew of an amazing therapeutic riding center that could use my talents, class and of course a little of my sass! If my students are not good listeners, I have a great way to make them understand how that feels. Hahahaha! This will also add some self-control to their life skills. I am the most well-bred horse on the ranch and sometimes it's difficult being with so many “grade” horses. Even though I work with so many common horses I just love, love, love my job!
